1. Inspect turbo for oily residue at low pressure fresh air intake
2. Inspect turbo for oily residue at high pressure compressed air output
3. Inspect turbo for oily residue at exhaust input from engine manifold
4. Inspect turbo for oily residue at exhaust output from turbo
- Review engine and emission devices for signs of engine “blow by” (intake manifold recirculation valve, PCV … devices that feed back into the air system)
- Faulty air cleaner and air ducting
- Foreign material ingestion
- Clean ducting and intercooler (if equipped) of oil residue
- Possible turbo oil seat failure - replace turbo
- Engine failing - passing oil out the exhaust into the turbo
- Possible turbo oil seat failure – replace turbo
